Hello, and welcome.

Thank you so much for finding your way to my blog among the countless others out there. I’m truly glad you’re here.

A Little About Me

About me: I’m a doctor and a mother of three.

About my youngest: My youngest child has a rare genetic condition called 48,XXYY syndrome. Along with Developmental Differences and autistic traits, he has an intellectual disability, food allergies, and a number of other medical complications affecting different parts of his body.

✍️ Why I Write This Blog

1. I want to be a small source of information for someone else facing the same diagnosis.

When my youngest was diagnosed, I searched desperately for information. But because 48,XXYY syndrome is so rare, there was very little practical information available.

Even as a doctor, I remember how overwhelming the loneliness and uncertainty felt. That experience is one of the reasons I decided to start this blog.

What I share here about our everyday life may reassure someone. At times, it may also make someone feel anxious. But either way, I want to share the real story—not a polished version of it.

I believe that even when the reality is difficult, knowing what may lie ahead is far better than being caught completely off guard.

Having information allows us to prepare. It gives us a chance to think about what we need to learn, what we may need to arrange, and how we can prepare for what comes next.

I hope this blog can be a reliable source of information for someone taking that next step through the darkness, one step at a time.

2. I want to turn my son’s growth and our everyday life into a kind of roadmap for the future.

The way my son develops, the things we experience, and even the little conversations and interactions we have each day may help other families in similar situations as they make decisions of their own.

At the same time, writing these experiences down as a diary helps me, too.

Putting my thoughts and actions into words gives me a chance to step back and look at them more objectively. It often leads me to think, “What could I do differently next time?”

In that way, writing has become an important opportunity for me to reflect, learn, and move forward.

🎈 A Chaotic, Challenging, and Incredibly Precious Everyday Life

All of this might make our life sound rather serious or complicated.

But honestly? Our home is lively, noisy, and—most of the time—pretty fun!

My children constantly manage to surprise me by coming up with things I never could have imagined. There is certainly no shortage of unexpected incidents and everyday chaos.

Some days are enough to make me want to roll my eyes and stare at the ceiling.

But I hope that when you read about our little adventures, you’ll sometimes find yourself thinking, “Oh, we’ve been there!”—and maybe even chuckle along with us.

Whether a child has a rare medical condition or not, the challenges and joys of raising children have so much in common.

So please feel free to drop by anytime.

I hope you’ll make yourself at home here.

Thank you for being here, and I look forward to sharing our journey with you.
